ATD St. Louis Board of Directors: 2017

Management of the ATD St. Louis chapter is vested in a Board of Directors. It is the board's responsibility to carry out the chapter's objectives and to establish policies and procedures that facilitate management of the chapter. The Board of Directors acts for and on behalf of the membership. Board members are chapter members in good standing who volunteer to serve two-year terms.

Chapter President

Lisa Lappin has 17 years talent development experience in the non-profit area.  As Director of Organizational Development and Community Relations at Behavioral Health Response (BHR), Lisa promotes BHR’s mission by providing education and training programs to the St. Louis area community. Within BHR, Lisa provides organizational development by identifying and coordinating training employee training programs. Prior to BHR, Lisa provided HR and program development for the St. Louis Arc, a United Way Agency. Prior to serving as the Chapter President, Lisa served on the Board as VP of Membership, VP of Finance, and President-Elect. Lisa earned her BS in Psychology and Sociology from the University of Missouri-Columbia and her MS from Lindenwood University in Organizational Communications.

As Chapter President, Lisa provides executive leadership for the chapter. She establishes the vision, mission and key objectives, and ensures resources and structures are in place to meet established goals. She sets agenda for and presides at all meetings of the Board of Directors. She executes policies and directives of the Board of Directors and has the authority to sign all documents. As President, Lisa is the chapter liaison to the ATD National Organization. She has the responsibility for monitoring the performance of the ATD St. Louis Board of Directors and its members and acts in all other respects as is the custom and responsibility of the President of the Organization. President-Elect

Kelly L. Jones, Ph.D., CPLP is a learning and development consultant with 15 years of experience in instructional design, curriculum development, new media, and learning technologies. As the training manager for Marketing at Nestle Purina, Kelly is responsible for the needs analysis, design, development and implementation of functional training and development initiatives. She is responsible for the management of marketing curriculum and leveraging digital learning platforms, including e-learning and mobile learning solutions. Kelly holds a B.S. in Communication & Information Technology, an M.Ed. in Educational Technology, and a Ph.D. in Curriculum & Instruction. Prior to moving to Missouri, she was a faculty member and director of learning technologies at Mercer University, and a Governor's Teaching Fellow at the Institute of Higher Education at the University of Georgia. She is an advocate for new literacies, lifelong learning, open educational resources, and public libraries.    

As President-Elect, Kelly assists the President in providing executive leadership for the chapter. She will assume the office of the President in 2018. In the absence of the President, Kelly presides at meetings of the Chapter and the Board of Directors. As directed by the President, she assists in the leadership and conduct of Chapter affairs. Kelly is the Chapter CARE contact and compiles data for the annual MAP/CARE submission to the ATD National Organization. VP, Finance

Brent Clark, CPLP is the National Training Manager at First Guarantee Mortgage Corporation (FGMC), where he provides chief oversight for retail training, including building and implementing new hire, sales, customer service, and product training. In 2015, FGMC recognized him as the Retail Division MVP. Prior to his time at FGMC, Brent served in a variety of capacities at JPMorgan Chase & Co. for 11 years, most recently as Illinois/Wisconsin Area Training Manager. He is a Certified Professional in Learning Performance (CPLP) and a Project Management Professional (PMP). Brent has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science with minors in Business and Economics from Valparaiso University.

As Vice President for Finance, Brent manages the operational finances of the chapter. He creates an annual operating budget and coordinates the budget and operational issues with other board members, as well as administrative services. He assures that chapter operations are in compliance with ATD's Chapter Affiliation Requirements (CARE). Brent audits income/expenses and cash-flow on a monthly basis to ensure chapter's sound financial status and ensures that the chapter is in compliance with state and federal reporting requirements. VP, Administration

Denise Bryant is a Human Resources Leader with extensive experience managing and motivating others to achieve company objectives.  She possesses over 20 years in training, organizational development and human resources. Denise’s expertise includes talent management, organizational development, training and development, and leadership and management coaching along with a background in environmental health and safety. Denise holds a BFA in Applied Arts from Lindenwood University and a MA in Human Resources Development from Webster University.

As Vice President for Administration, Denise provides administrative support to the chapter. She records meeting minutes, writes chapter correspondence, and ensures communication of chapter proceedings and records. Denise collects data for and tracks key performance metrics for the chapter such as membership, meeting attendance, budget compliance, etc. Denise is the main contact person for the chapter and handles general inquiries or refers inquiries to appropriate board members. She coordinates and oversees registration and check-in at chapter events. Denise can be reached via email at administration@atdstl.org

VP, Membership

Patricia Sherwood is a technical training expert and project manager with broad international experience in sales, marketing, and strategic planning. As President of Vivid Voz consulting, she develops and facilitates employee and client learning programs in both English and Spanish.  Previously, she held marketing and business development roles with manufacturers and integrators of security and IT equipment in the U.S. and Latin America. A skilled public speaker and translator, Ms. Sherwood also served four years as an adjunct professor at two universities, teaching courses in marketing and international relations.  Areas of interest include process improvement, team building and mentoring, paperless organization, and cross-cultural translation

As Vice President for Membership, Patty manages the design and implementation of policies, programs or initiatives that ensure membership growth and engagement; sets appropriate goals and performance measures for membership; ensures updated and appropriate membership records; invoices membership dues; maintains new member materials/brochures; and processes membership applications. VP, Professional Development

Danielle Conrey is a learning and development instructor with 7 years of experience in facilitation and curriculum development.  As a Learning and Development Instructor for Programs for Scottrade, Danielle is responsible for managing the New Investment Consultant training and post-learning for Investment Consultants.  Danielle also assists with New Branch Manager and instructor led courses.  Prior to Scottrade, Danielle provided electronic health record training to new employees at St. Louis major hospital systems and was certified as a Mental Health First Aid Instructor.  Danielle earned a Master of Healthcare Administration from Webster University, Master of Education in Community Counseling from University of Missouri – St. Louis and BA in Psychology and Criminal Justice from St. Louis University. 

As Vice President for Professional Development, Danielle is responsible for planning chapter events of value to our members that also reflect the vision of the Chapter.  Danielle communicates and coordinates with speakers, event site staff and collaborates with the board members to manage all aspects of each event.  In addition to regular chapter events, she is also responsible for special events to provide additional value and development to the members’ experience including the annual chapter conference, special interest groups, workshops/seminars, etc.  Danielle collaborates with the VPs of Communication and Marketing to promote events.  Danielle collaborates with the Chapter President to set appropriate goals and performance measures to ensure the chapter is meeting goals and providing meaningful events for members’ Professional Development. VP, Community Engagement

Anthony Palazzolo, CPLP® is a Senior Business Analyst and Training Specialist with Moneta Group. Anthony is responsible for new employee training and process centralization at Moneta Group. 

As Vice President of Community Engagement, Anthony serves as a liaison between the chapter and local community, educational, and nonprofit groups. He manages and promotes community engagement within the chapter by developing and executing initiatives, programs, and outreach efforts. Anthony can be reached via email at community@atdstl.org.

VP, Communications

Danielle Buscher, CPLP is a learning and development professional in the credit union industry with 8 years of experience. As the learning and development manager for West Community Credit Union, Danielle is responsible for designing and delivering a variety of learning programs.  She is a certified professional of learning and performance and is scheduled to graduate in May 2017 with a MS in Human Resources and Organizational Development from the University of Louisville.  

The Vice President for Communications provides communication support to the chapter. Danielle develops and executes a comprehensive annual communications plan that supports the mission and image of the chapter, and sets goals and performance measures for the chapter’s communications plan. She ensures the consistency, relevance, timeliness, and accuracy of the chapter’s public messages. The VP for Communications is the manager of the chapter’s website and social media channels and can be reached via email at communications@atdstl.org

Immediate Past President

Cora Fickinger is a workforce educator in the environmental testing industry with four decades of experience in performance management and leadership development. Starting her career with 19 years of service to the environment with Peabody Coal at their corporate laboratory, Cora remained in the environmental testing industry serving the past 20 years with Teklab, Inc.  As Quality Training Officer at Teklab, Cora is in charge of talent development, specializing in employee recruitment, safety, GLP, quality, and ethics. Cora holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Workforce Education and Development, Professional Coaching Certification, and is a Certified Facilitator with FranklinCovey. She has been a member of the American Society for Testing Materials since 1974 and received its Standards Development Award in recognition of her contribution in the validation of many of the international water testing standards that monitor the water quality of our world.
